card night - new friends

last night we went to a friends house for Iftar, which is the break fast meal during ramadan. our friend arin (pronounced erin but with an "a") had some of his good friends over from work, but we know him from church. we ate a LOT of food, which apparently is what ramadan is all about and then we played cards for a while. since muslims fast from all things pleasurable, they don't go out and dance, drink or really do anything other then eat. therefore, cards becomes a big tradition.

this photo has nothing to do with anything except for the fact that his ring is my new favorite
part of him. he twists it all day long while he's thinking.
and he's mine. suckas!!!!!!

finally I got a good sunset pic! this is looking east towards the marina.
the beach is right part those buildings, less then a mile away.

i know this photo might look super edited, but i have better news. it's not.
it was just dirty window.
womp womp womp.

sunset #2

sunset #3

one of the best parts of dinner was everyone asking arin 2453 times what these were called.
they are called burani (dont ask me to spell it right) and it's a traditional indian rice dish with lamb on the bottom
and perfectly steamed rice on top, then covered with this thin bread to keep it all warm.
served in clay pots that you get to KEEP! too bad I can't garden here.....

table spread.

testing out the f-stop.

here's the group!

post dinner tea from Turkey.

boys being boys. (aka Dave making friends).

the start of cards!

cheating with my camera?

spoons.

because why would we stop eating?

i won first!!!! (5's were joker)

isn't his wedding ring fantastic?

and then arin supermanned to get a spoon.
the end :) cheers to new friends and great memories!
